Antidote ‎– Bounce The Bouncer

This is something I never thought I would ever get my hands on.  It's not a super limited color of a famous release of a (relatively speaking) mega-popular band.  Nope.  It's an 18 year old release from a Dutch punk band (albeit a well known one in Europe) that (I think) was self released DIY effort of 100 copies.  And I got it in incredible shape for only €15 (thank you Discogs).

Antidote ‎– Bounce The Bouncer

I only discovered this Antidote (NL) when searching for this Antidote (NYC).  This is the only time I can think of when I found another band with the same name that I really liked.

If anyone has any background about the release of this EP please feel free to comment.

H2O – Can't Get Off The Phone | Test Press

I need to play catchup here.  This is my favorite time of the year.  People need cash for the upcoming holidays so lots of quality records go up on eBay or Discogs.  Plus since the holiday's are approaching there are less people chasing records so you can score things at great prices.

H2O – Can't Get Off The Phone

This wasn't something I was actually looking for but when I got a 'want list' email from Discogs I snatched it up.  It is one of my favorite H2O singles.

H2O & The New York Rel-X

Cleaning the desktop I found some vinyl pics.  Not sure why I didn't post them earlier.

Both are solid releases with cool looking vinyl.  Not sure of the pressing for the H2O record but there is a label variant for the black vinyl.  No Way Out had a pressing of 1,000.  I believe Summer of '81 is exclusive to this release.

Infiltrators / Subway Thugs split

I have bagged my white whale.  Thank you eBay.

Subway Thugs / Infiltrators - split

Really crappy photos.  (My iPhone is officially beyond the point of redemption.)  When I entered the record into Discogs I used the two photos from the auction posting and one photo from the Infiltrators old Facebook page.

I have been trying to get a copy of this forever.  Here's the abbreviated story:  It was never released but some made it out into the wild.  I had zero hope of ever scoring a copy and didn't even both putting it on my want list.  When it popped up on eBay I was worried that all the Bishops Green mania would trickle down to Subway Thugs.  I wonder how much more I would've had to pay if the Subway Thugs tracks weren't released a year and a half ago.

Fvck man, I can wait to spin this puppy.

The Bruisers - Intimidation & American Night

I just snagged the blue vinyl The Bruisers - Intimidation for a good price, which almost completes the  collection.  Now I only need the Sonic Aggression black vinyl.

The Bruisers - Intimidation green vinyl  (200 copies)
The Bruisers - Intimidation red vinyl  (1000 copies)
The Bruisers - Intimidation blue vinyl  (200 copies)

I never noticed until today that the artwork for the Sonic Aggression reissue used altered artwork and a fold-over cover with lyrics printed inside the fold rather than an insert.

Since I was doing this I figured I would round out my Bruisers vinyl and post the prize of the bunch: American Night on clear vinyl.

The Bruisers - American Night clear vinyl  (100 copies)

Again, sorry for the shitty pictures.  It might not be the rarest Bruiser vinyl I own but it is my favorite.  I picked it up 15+ years ago for a song.  This piece of wax kills.  Definitely one of my top all-time favorites.

Subway Thugs ‎- Subway Thugs Picture Disc

Filling the holes in my collection is going to take a back seat for a bit unless something super rare comes along or a want list item is insanely cheap.  How can you ignore either situation?  Anyway, here is something I picked up a few weeks ago curtesy of Discogs.

Subway Thugs ‎- Subway Thugs Picture Disc

The sleeve is split on each side put everything else is perfect.  I thought it was cool that the flip side of the insert had an ad for The Infiltrators - Don't Give Me Your Old School Lip... CD OiNK! released.  The Infiltrators, like Dead Heros, were underrated and didn't get the recognition they should have.

As for this record, it was another fine piece of vinyl from the Subway Thugs.  Hopefully the Subway Thugs start getting more recognition too with the runaway success of Bishops Green.  I would love to  everything in one place.

The Bruisers ‎- Gates Of Hell | Reissue

Not really sure why I bought these.  Gates of Hell is good but far from my favorite Bruisers material. Vinyl bug?  Collecting bug?  Opportunity?  Regardless, when the Chapter Eleven reissues came out I snagged a bone color vinyl

The Bruisers ‎- Gates Of Hell bone vinyl  (100 copies)

Shitty picture.  The vinyl is pure bone white.  It goes well with the recolored artwork.

When I received my copy in the mail I logged onto Discogs and added it to my collection.  Wouldn't you know it but someone was selling a bone with black splatter and alternate cover.

The Bruisers ‎- Gates Of Hell bone w/ black splatter & alternate cover  (50 copies)

I was able to snag this at what I thought was a more than reasonable price.  A week later I saw a copy go for three times what I paid for it.  I actually like this copy most of all, especially the cover.

An Analysis of Pre-Rollins Black Flag Demos Currently Circulating (and ad-hoc recording session guide)

[I previously posted this many years ago on my (now defunct) website. I'm including it here in its (near) entirety.]

With this document I am attempting to accurately identify the pre-Rollins demos currently circulating in trading circles and online. The session information and liner notes from Everything Went Black serves as the chief point of reference. I spent hours carefully listening to the demos and comparing them to Everything Went Black to identify unreleased tracks. I also cross-referenced the recording session information contained in the liner notes and track identification from Everything Went Black to properly label the circulating demo sessions.

My conclusion: Most of the demos in circulation have already been released on EWB or are from official releases. I have been able to only identify 7 tracks that remain unreleased and are circulating. As far as I can tell, nothing before January 1978 or after May 1981 have surfaced.

03. White Minority [EWB track 3]
04. I Don't Care [EWB track 2]
05. Gimme Gimme Gimme [EWB track 1]

07. I Don't Care 2 (unreleased)
--   Nervous Breakdown [Nervous Breakdown]
--   Fix Me [Nervous Breakdown]
--   I’ve Had It [Nervous Breakdown]

Recording: January 1978 @ Media Art
Band: Keith Morris, Greg Ginn, Chuck Dukowski, Brian Migdol

Notes:
Multiple versions of this session have circulated in trading circles. One version contains a live song erroneously attributed to Black Flag. The song is from a mid-to-late 80’s Chicago band called Here. Some versions contain a third I Don’t Care. This is just a duplicate of the second, and unreleased, I Don’t Care.

Media Art Studio Oct ‘79
traded as: 1979-10-01 Media Art Studio (w/ Chavo)01. Revenge [EWB track 5]
02. Depression [EWB track 6]
03. Clocked In [EWB track 7]
04. Police Story [EWB track 8]
05. Wasted [EWB track 9]
??   No Values

Recording: October 1, 1979 @ Media Art, EWB tracks mixed 10/13/82 A Music Lab
Band: Keith Morris, Greg Ginn, Chuck Dukowski, Robo

Notes:
The EWB liner notes indicate at least two takes of No Values were done before Keith left the band. Circulating copies of this session are usually, and incorrectly, attributed to Chavo.

Media Art Studio Oct-Nov ‘79
01A. Depression [EWB track 11]
02A. Police Story [EWB track 12]
02B. Police Story [EWB track 16]
03A. Clocked In [EWB track 13]
--B.  Clocked In [Cracks In The Sidewalk (see note)]
04A. My Rules [EWB track 14]
 --A.  Jealous Again [Jealous Again]
05B. Jealous Again [EWB track 15]

[A = Chavo B= Dez]

Recording: Oct-Nov 1979 @ Media Art, EWB tracks mixed 10/13/82 A Music Lab
Band: Ron Reyes/Dez Cadena, Greg Ginn, Chuck Dukowski, Robo

Notes:
It’s unclear if there are any more Dez tracks from the Oct-Nov sessions. According to the EWB liner notes, Spot “recorded a few more of Dez’ vocals.” Does that mean he recorded vocal tracks on more songs or just fine tune what was already done?

The Chavo tracks were mixed in early 1980 (2A & 3A) and 10/13/82 (1A & 4A). The Dez tracks (2B & 5B) were mixed August-September 1990.

Cracks In The Sidewalk was released in November 1980. This means that this came from either the Oct-Nov ’79 sessions or April ’80 sessions. I deduced that it came from this session because Chavo’s version was from this session and first session with Dez singing didn’t occur until January 1981.

I do not believe these sessions have surfaced in any form except for EWB.

Media Art Studio April ‘80

--   Gimme Gimme Gimme [EWB track 10]
--   Revenge [Jealous Again (possibly 11/79)]
--   White Minority [Jealous Again (possibly 11/79)]
--   No Values [Jealous Again (possibly 11/79)]
--   You Bet We've Got Something … [Jealous Again (possibly 11/79)]

Recording: April 1980 @ Media Art
Band: Ron Reyes, Greg Ginn, Chuck Dukowski, Robo

Notes:
The Jealous Again tracks may be from the Nov ’79 session.

Target Video Aug ‘80

-- Damaged I [EWB track 17]

Notes:
I can’t find out much more about this except for what’s in EWB. Target Video was a studio in San Francisco that did pro-shot videos in front of an in-studio audience. I believe Flag did a few “sessions” (based on the Target Video footage) with Dez and Henry. I don’t know if this track is in the video or not. If anyone knows the full story, shoot me an email.

Recorded & mixed August 1980.

“Aborted Police Story Project”
traded as: More Damage-era demos 1981 (w/Dez)

01. Police Story (unreleased)]
02. No More (unreleased, longer intro)]

06. Damaged [Louie Louie single]
--   Louie Louie 3 [EWB track 18]

Recording: January 1981 @ Media Art
Band: Dez Cadena, Greg Ginn, Chuck Dukowski, Robo

Notes:
The name was taken from Spot's liner notes in Everything Went Black. These were the last recordings done at Media Art.

Oxley's Midnight Runners ‎– Invasion | Arizona Flag (blue, red, orange, yellow) Vinyl

Both OMR single have been great, hard hitting singles.  Nice simple packaging and great colored vinyl.  The Arizona Flag (blue, red, orange, yellow) vinyl is beautiful.  One of 500.

Oxley's Midnight Runners ‎– Invasion

I pre-ordered the vinyl so I've had this for a bit.  I love the colors so I had to throw this up.

Dead Heros - Schizophrenic | Test Press

I've been a fan of Dead Heros since the early days.  Really obscure and never got the the praise or attention they deserved.  JJ (the singer) was always nice to me.  When he sent me the demo he actually sent me a home made Dead Hero shirt.  Another time he sent me a CD with the Headache Records single and a live set from CBGB.

The band's second and last single was Schizophrenic released on Bandworm Records.  (By the time it came out JJ had moved to England and joined Wasted Life.)  It was limited to 250 copies and I grabbed my copy from the label when it came out.  I remember paying an exorbitant amount for shipping to NYC.  Fast forward 5 years and thanks to Discogs (and the bands obscurity) I was able to score a test pressing for cheap.  My copy is 5 of 5.

Dead Heros - Schizophrenic

Now all I need is a copy of the Waxperts Club Edition (limited to 10 copies) to complete the set.

Reconquesta ‎- Reconquesta | Brown Vinyl & Numbered Alternate Cover

I found this Catalan band thanks to the Out of the Darkness blog.  I was intrigued enough to check them out their bandcamp site.  Wow, I was blown away and tracked down the 7 inch.

Reconquesta ‎- Reconquesta

I grabbed both the brown vinyl and the numbered alternate cover version.

The band has all of there releases, including their new LP, for sale on the band camp site as name your own price.  These guys are worth checking out.

The Undead | eBay pickup

I've had I Want You Dead on heavy rotation lately.  As usual I started scanning eBay to see if I can plug any holes in my collection, particularily the Dawn of The Undead CD since I've never owned a copy.  Considering the CD is out of print, I got it, and a bunch of other things  for a steal ($25 all-in).

I already have a clear The Invisible Man, but it and everything else was gravy as far as I was concerned.  (Funny, but I got my copy of The Invisible Man the same way.)

Madball - Been There, Done That | Clear Vinyl

My white whale.

Madball ‎– Been There, Done That

I've owned a copy since it came out in '98.  Not sure why I started picking up the color vinyl.  It would be years before I developed the 'colored vinyl disease'.  Anyway, I had red, blue and white copies by 2000 but I could never find a clear copy.  I had a saved search on eBay for years.  Hell, I even accidently bought a 2nd white copy by mistake once.  But finally about two months ago one popped up on eBay: NM condition (don't mind the shitty phone I'm lazy) and it was a Buy It Now ($17 all-in).

Now onto my next white whale: Brick Assassin ‎– Chicago Brick Crew 1st press.

Squiggy & Subway Thugs | Splatter Vinyl

My wife asked me what I was going to do with the multiple copies I records I have.  Not knowing what to say I figure I would just add to the vinyl porn out there.

Here are my latest hauls:

Squiggy ‎– From Riot To Insurrection

50 copies of yellow with black splatter.  Solid release with Squiggy's cover of Pulling On The Boots.  Did Squiggy ever not put out solid, ass-kicking releases?

Subway Thugs ‎– Subway Thugs

100 copies of white with red splatter.  Still need to break out the record player and spin this one.  Only missing the picture disc and maybe a few comp tracks.  Not sure why but they never grabbed my attention until about 2 years ago even though I got Mainstream Crap back in the day.

Antiheros - Election Day | Red Vinyl?

Going through my record collection and updating Discogs, I started obsessing thinking about the Antiheros' Election Day 7 inch.  I finally added a a purple copy and have pretty much come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a pink version.  Anyway, I started really looking at my orange and red copies and am seriously starting to wonder whether or not red is really red or just a dark orange.

Here is a photo of my red (left) and orange (right) copies.

Looks red to me, or does it? Here are the same two records again but this time held up to natural light.

Again, the "red" is on the left and orange on the right.  That looks dark orange to me.

My question, does anyone know for certain that this is supposed to be two different colors?  Or is this just a color variation similar to the light yellow copies of the 2nd press Gorilla Biscuits 7 inch or the pink copies of Misfits' Legacy of Brutality?  It's probably thin or crappy vinyl like the 2nd press Caroline Earth A.D. / Wolfs Blood that looks brown when held up to light.

Unless someone from GMM Records or Mark Noah chimes in, I guess we will never know.
